Mollywood star Prithviraj, the actress' co-star in Aiyya, finds people in Bollywood a lot more passionate about work
Though working in Bollywood has always posed a few challenges to south Indian actors vying to break the B'town barrier, it looks like Mollywood superstar Prithviraj has fit in with ease.
The actor is currently in Mumbai filming with Rani Mukherjee for his Bollywood debut Aiyya, which is being produced by Anurag Kashyap. While the pretty woman had earlier said that "even though he is a Mollywood superstar, Prithviraj is just like one of us," the actor goes a step further to say, "I have never been on a more comfortable set since I began my career in the film industry 11 years ago."
He attributes this to the professional working environment in the Hindi film industry. "Everyone here is very passionate about the work they are doing," he says. Prithviraj is all praise for his co-star Rani in the offbeat feelgood flick that tells the love story between a Marathi woman and a Tamil painter.
"Rani's gone to great lengths to prepare for the character. It is almost intimidating. She's been preparing for almost a year and has even learnt Marathi just for role," says the actor. Aiyya also throws in another hurdle in the form of language as the film uses sync sound recording (the sound is recorded during the filming itself).
However, Prithvi, who also has a few Kollywood hits to his credit, is not perturbed with this technicality and says, "In a way, I'm more comfortable with Hindi as I can read and write the language, which is not the case in Tamil."
Talking about Anurag and director Sachin Kundalkar, Prithviraj describes them as "very passionate filmmakers." This film has been touted to be the first all-out commercial movie that Anurag has been part of and even though it's a light-hearted love story, the way it's executed is extremely different, claims the actor.
Though it could be a dream launch for the Mollywood superstar in Bollywood, he says he doesn't look at it that way. "For me, it's just another movie but in a different language. But I am extremely happy that Anurag and team spotted me even though I've not done anything noteworthy," he adds.
