Mumbai Police has been in the news for more than a year. Though its title remained the same throughout, there was uncertainty about whether Prithviraj will play the lead.
Superstar Mammootty was also touted to be part of the project at one point of time. The latest buzz is that the film will retain its original lead actor Prithviraj but will have a new title. Sources say the decision was prompted after another project, titled Mumbai Dosth, which also has Prithviraj in the lead, was announced and scheduled for release around the same time. Confirming the news, scriptwriter Sanjay says, "We have decided to change the title. Prithviraj will play the lead; Sreenivasan will also play a prominent role."
The Rosshan Andrrews-directed flick is set to begin filming in August.
