Prithviraj is gearing up for his debut in B'town that will begin next month when he starts filming opposite Rani Mukerji for the movie Aiyaa. Earlier this year, Prithvi had signed the deal for the Anurag Kashyap-produced movie. Anurag and his team were reportedly impressed with the actor's performances in some of his Kollywood & Mollywood movies and consequently offered him the lead role in the offbeat film. Aiyaa will mark the Bollywood debut of National Award-winning Marathi director Sachin Kundalkar.
Aiyaa (an exclamation of surprise) is a quirky love story between a Maharashtrian girl, played by Rani, and a South Indian (Prithviraj). "I play a young Tamil painter in the film that narrates the love story between him and a Marathi girl (played by Rani). I'll also be dubbing for the movie in Hindi," says Prithviraj.
Aiyaa is set in Mumbai, and for the first time we will see Rani playing a typical Marathi girl dressed in simple salwar suits and spouting dialogues in the language. In fact the actress is presently in the prep mode working with a tutor to get the diction, body language and nuances of her character right.“It’s a very simple story, but hilarious. In fact, Rani cracked up several times during the narration,” said a source close to the actress. “Sachin is making his debut in Hindi films with Aiyaa, but acting in debutant directors’ films has never been an issue with Rani if she likes a script,” added the source.
Amit Trivedi will be giving the music and Vaibhavi Merchant will be choreographing the songs of Aiyaa, which has lots of dance.
Aiyaa will start in the first week of October, and the shooting will continue till December 17. The movie will be shot in locations like Pune, Lonavala and Mumbai. According to sources, this film will have Hindi, Marati, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and English versions.
